As Travel Manager for the Vancouver Canucks, Cathie Moroney’s main responsibility is to arrange team road trips. This includes booking flights, accommodation, and meals for the team, their families, staff, and scouts. Cathie also spends much of her time planning team functions including bi-annual Pro and Amateur Scout meetings and training camp in September. Finally, Cathie also acts as a liaison between the Canucks and travel industry personnel.

Cathie’s day is anything but typical. The job is always new and exciting with last minute requests to respond to and constant solving of problems that arise. Cathie is also on call 24 hours a day in case anything should come up relating to team or organization travel.

Cathie would suggest that someone interested in this position would want to pursue a post secondary degree relating to the field as well as Airline Computer courses.

This position is suited for someone who is ready to deal with the unexpected and remain patient while doing this. The job holds a lot of pressure, so it is necessary to be creative and detail orientated in order to fulfill tasks with a high level of quality. A position like this one will certainly keep you busy, but Cathie assures that it is well worth it for someone who enjoys a fast paced work environment.
